YOGA

My approach is a potent combination of breath, imagination, and formal movement, blending practical with the MYSTICAL, to discern blind spots within our body and lives. Through inquiry, curiosity, compassion, and a map to help us traverse the terrain of our bodies, we can navigate the personal waters of our own narrative more efficiently, effectively, and mindfully. We are participants in this universal dialogue, not separate from it: we move through ourselves, with ourselves, in order to understand ourselves more deeply.

Classes blend Alignment and Flow with theory from Katonah Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, functional mobility, Chinese Medicine, Toism and neuroscience, and my own 10 years of teaching and even more years of personal practice, to reform the mind, body, spirit.

PRIVATE YOGA SESSIONS

Private sessions include adjustments to reorient the body to release habitually held tension in the muscular tissues. We will focus on strengthening areas of weakness and underuse while also releasing overuse to find more flexibility and range of motion. These sessions create a more balanced abode to live in and bring balance in the tissues, space in the joints and mental clarity.

Together, we will develop better conditions that allow the body to heal itself.

You’ll learn tools to powerfully participate in your wellbeing, release negative habits and reorient yourself to move with more ease. A sense of well-being, insights and transformation may develop.

With 1000+ hours of Yoga training, I’ve studied under master teachers in Yoga and somatic therapies, and I come from a lifetime of studying movement and athletics. My first training was under a Physical Therapist who developed a Yoga method that is safe and functional. I’ve trained in Therapeutic Yoga with Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman, and I am certified in Trauma Informed Yoga. I am also certified in Katonah Yoga by the founder Nevine Michaan, a syncretic Hatha practice developed over 40 years that incorporates classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being.  

Yoga therapy applies yoga techniques to help individual health challenges in a multi-dimensional manner. It serves to be preventative an also alleviate suffering, improve symptoms and facilitate healing at all levels. Yoga postures align the bones and reforms the muscles and ligaments. Good physical alignment removes stagnation and frees the flow of chi or energy within the spinal cord and throughout the meridians of the body. Proper flow of energy supports the body in healing itself. Yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system to adopt a healthier stress response and supports an overly taxed nervous system.

My sessions are safe for anyone who has suffered from trauma. A 10-week, yoga-based mindfulness program reduced symptoms of PTSD among women with chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD. (source)

Pricing

In person Sessions are $250/hr & Zoom is $150/hr

I can incorporate these sessions to include meditation and/or coaching.

Location

Classes can be held in my Austin studio or in your home/office or over Zoom.
