NEW YEAR'S IS OFTEN THOUGHT OF AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE FORWARD WITH RESOLUTIONS, AKA ACTION PLANS, TO BE BETTER!
However, this does not mean that we should be hard on ourselves with thoughts like, “how can I fix my problem,” because new frustrations and problems are a natural part of existence and will continue to come up.
But rather, focus on creating your own unique vision of a life filled with the feelings that you crave: joy, prosperity, freedom, respect, peace, creativity, adventure, connection, security, compassion, etc. Take time to sit by yourself, listen, journal and consider what feelings you want to cultivate more of in your life. Then ask, what actions will bring more of these desired feelings into my life. Those steps will help you to discover your deepest desires. Then, from a loving and trusting place ask, “what actions will bring me closer to what I truly desire?” Write down the small action steps and goals that you can do each day to bring more of those desired feelings into your life.
Rather than only focusing on a specific outcome or goal for 2016, commit to making small daily actions towards your desires.
Take time each day to bring these desires and goals into your mind. Whether sitting over tea, walking or journaling, by simply taking time to focus on those intentions, you’ll stay on track.
Create a few daily practices to keep you connected to your inner guide. I recommend movement, meditation, journaling, quiet time in nature, sleep, sending gratitude to loved ones, etc.
Keep trusting yourself and listening to your heart. Maybe your desired feelings will shift throughout the year or you might become more clear on what actions will bring you closer to them.
Most importantly, don’t punish yourself if you get off track, but remain loving and compassionate while making these shifts. We can make tremendous progress in our thoughts, habitual patterns and ultimately our lives, when we come from a place of self-love.
p.s. If one of your desires is for adventure, travel, connection and self-care, then you might want to consider joining our retreat in Bali on March 4th. Details here.
